Courcelette British Cemetery was started by...

Courcelette British Cemetery was started by British regiments in the winter of 1916/17 but was later used to bury Australian dead from the fighting at nearby Mouquet Farm and Canadian dead from the fighting at Courcelette. Most of the latter are men killed in the attack on the village on 15th September 1916, a day when tanks were used for the first time. It is in a very rural location - a good place to connect to the Somme landscape.
