Locre in Ruins 1919

The village of Locre (now Loker) is located in Flanders, Belgium, and for most of the war was behind the British lines, but only a short distance from the battlefield. The final German offensive in Flanders in April 1918 brought the war to the village and by the end of the conflict it was in ruins, like most communities touched by the hand of war during WW1.

This image dates from 1919 and shows the main street of the village, where you enter Locre from the south-west.
