Of cowboys and cattlemen

An exhibit on view at the Museum of the San Ramon Valley (January 28 - May 4, 2014), explores the history of cattle ranching in San Ramon. Besides the expected artifacts on display (maps, saddles, branding irons, barbed wire), ranchers are present on Saturdays to talk with visitors about ranching. Yeehaw!

The lady was a farmer

Forest Home Farms, now owned by the city of San Ramon, is a 16-acre farm run by Ruth Quayle Boone and her husband, Travis. Ruth passed away in 1998 at the age of 94, and the farm now stands in memoriam. The property includes two historic houses, fourteen outbuildings, two pergolas and a cistern.

Tours are available to the public on the second Saturday of each month, 10am - 2pm.
