When we first arrived to Costa Rica, we were surrounding by the sounds of what seemed to be howling dogs. But where was it coming from? And who they did belong to? We were in the middle of a rainforest in Sarapiqui, so I couldn't think of where these dogs were. During a hike, we soon discovered that they weren't dogs at all, but instead they were howler monkeys, which immediately made the whole experience way cooler, especially when we would see entire families jumping from tree to tree above us as we hike our way around in various parts of the country. They are everywhere. Leave them alone and they will do the same to you, though they will always be watching you closely!
