Winter in Colorado is great, but what summer brings is even better, like the rodeo. Here, I met with the cowboys (and cowgirls) of the Steamboat Springs Rodeo. Local ranchers have been meeting up for fun and games here since the 1970s, but in time this fun gathering grew into a professional rodeo series where aspiring rodeo celebrities can compete for cash prizes.
Families gather to watch the rodeo, while enjoying some BBQ, and if you arrive for 4th of July, you get to enjoy the fireworks right from your seat.
The rodeo takes place every Friday and Saturday evening from mid-June to mid-August Steamboat holds PRCA-sanctioned competitions during the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series, with additional rodeo events, such as pro bull riding, team penning and team roping throughout the summer.
