The Conservatory Gardens in Central Park

Walk up to Spanish Harlem, otherwise known as El Barrio, off of 5th Avenue, and you will come across two large and beautiful gates. The Vanderbilt Gates, as they are called, once served as the entrance to the courtyard of Cornelius Vanderbilt II's chateau. Today, they serve as the main entrance to Central Park's only garden, a beautiful area where New Yorkers like to read, relax, and get lost in thought - an easy thing to do as this is a designated quiet space, a rarity in this bustling city. In the center of it all are the Three Dancing Maidens, a sculpture by Walter Schott. Best times to visit are in the spring for tulips and in the fall for mums.
