Another Spite House

People seemed to like the Wedding Cake House "spite house" that I posted a few days ago so I thought I'd try another one that's located closer to my hometown.

This one is only a few years old. A developer wished to build a fill-in residence on an empty lot but was thwarted by neighbors who refused to endorse a zoning variance. The developer tried to convince the neighbors and eventually gave up, deciding instead to extract his revenge by building the largest, most architecturally clashing style that he could legally complete without a variance. The result was a 3,000 square foot home only twelve feet wide (check it out on Satellite View too).

I toured the home out of curiosity during the Open House after the developer finished the structure and offered it for sale. The layout was surprisingly well done. It didn't feel claustrophobic at all; in fact it was rather roomy. The only oddity was the master bathroom on the top floor, facing the street. The bathtub was set between the large windows on either side, practically guaranteeing one would flash the entire neighborhood when bathing.

Maybe that was part of the spite?
