Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (DL-271)

Congratulations to our fellow librarians at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore for their 50th anniversary as a United Nations depository library !

The event was organized jointly by the Department of Political Sciences and the Library. In attendance were Department Director Professor Damiano Palano, Professor Dino Rinoldi from the Piacenza University Campus, Mrs Cristina Giordano from the UN Office in Geneva Library and Professor Andrea Santini from the Milano University Campus.

On this occasion, Professor Rinoldi reminded everyone present how the Library United Nations collection was created fifty years ago and how it covered many years of international law developments. Mrs. Giordano shared her memories of the UNOG Library one hundred years anniversary and also spoke about Mrs. Florence Wilson, the first UNOG Library Director.

Mrs Deborah Grbac from the Milano main Library took the capacity of chairperson and at the end of the round table, read the official certificate of appreciation for the fiftieth anniversary. This certificate was given to the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore by the United Nations Dag Hammarskjöld Library, the coordinator of the UN depository system.

An exhibit of historical documents related to the statute and the collection's beginnings and development, as well as information about the collection founder, Professor Giuseppe Biscottini, were displayed for one week after the event in the Library United Nations Publications Reference room.
