A beatnik-activist center coffee house on Sunset, the Fifth Estate where the Los Angeles Free Press was born. I only got to hang out here twice in the mid-1960s. It was something of a bohemian gashouse. I remember my friend Bob Carricart standing on a table reciting the Hamlet soliloquy backwards to applause.
Sunset was a hella mixed place with Dino's (77 Sunset Strip and Kookie) along with the Whisky A Go Go (where I first saw The Doors as a house band), Pandora's Box, and Ciro's. My favorite place was The Sea Witch.
