The Hotel Saratoga is in much better shape than the grander Hotel Nacional, and, in general, smells better. However there is some terrible chemical perfume in the landing of each floor. It was strong, and awful. My new friend Juan Carlos said he had stayed at the Saratoga, and told me to look behind the bonsai in the landing, where the electric aroma sprayer was hidden. Unplug it.
Ah! Fresh, unadulterated air.
At one point during my stay someone plugged it back in, so I unplugged it again.
