Barilla's Competitors Strike Back

At this moment, the Barilla Pasta company is under siege because of foolish, anti-gay remarks made by its current chairman. In a nutshell, he said that they'd never feature gays in any of their advertisements, and if gays didn't like it, they could eat someone else's pasta.

Naturally, Barilla's competitors are seizing this opportunity, a fine example of which is this ad from Garofalo. Translated to English, the tag line says “We don't care who you make it with, so long as you make it al dente.” In Italian, the names for the two pasta cuts, the tube-shaped penne and the butterfly-shaped farfalle are slang, respectively, for male and female genitalia.

Personally, I love it it when people fight hatred & ignorance with humor and flair.

Go Garofalo!
