I stopped in here for a quick drink but ended up staying most of the night! I liked the look of it initially because it had a small wooden bar inside (typically Irish) and an outdoor seating area on the street (not so Irish).
So I sat outside so I could watch the people walking along the street. Before long, a group of locals had invited me to join them and we sat around drinking and sharing stories for hour. I hadn't laughed so much in weeks!
Garavans is on the main pedestrian mall and is popular with locals - but I wouldn't call it a local secret. It also gets a fair share of visitors because of the central location. I just loved how friendly everyone was to me - and that's the sign of a good pub!
