A must do experience, and the best seafood of all times!
The Menega Cafe is not the fanciest restaurant in Bali. In fact, even when you get to the restaurant, the street is filled with coconut peels, smoke lingers to the street (be warned, you will smell like smoke too before the night is over), and you walk by the smoky kitchen, where the chefs in their t-shirts are grilling seafood on open fire, and half of the "seafood" is still alive in the large lobster containers as you walk in. Please, don't let this fool you. Menega Cafe is one of my favorite restaurants, their barbequed seafood is amazing. The kitchen business might be in the front, but the party literally is in the back. You walk past the kitchen, through the restaurant, and to the beach. The beach is filled with tables. If you come early, you can have a drink on the beach and watch the famous Bali sunset. Get a table close to the water, and sometimes waves can hit your feet, even while you are eating your dinner. When the sun sets, the lanterns on each table and the starts in the sky light the evening. And the food... I have never eaten barbequed seafood like this anywhere else in the world. The barbequed oysters are something I dreamed and craved for even months after my first visit to Bali, and on my last trip I headed to Jimbaran beach for the seafood already on my second night on the island. If you love seafood, this is an experience not to miss!
