Bali Asli is an amazing restaurant by an Australian chef Penelope Williams, who fell in love with Bali years ago, and wanted to come back to start her own authentic Balinese restaurant. Asli is the Balinese term used for something that is created in the traditional way, and that's how the dishes at Bali Asli are prepared: using the ingredients that were originally used, and cooking food on wood burning stove instead of electric. The food at Bali Asli is amazing, and the entire atmosphere is incredible. The open kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant, and there are not many walls in the building and you can sense the surrounding rice fields the entire time you eat. Or you can even get a private gazebo table in the patio overlooking the rice fields. Bali Asli also offers cooking classes, and I hope return to Bali to take cooking classes there one day.
