The performance: traditional Balinese Kecak and Fire Dance. The stage: on the top of a cliff next to the Uluwatu temple overseeing the Indian Ocean. The time of the day: performance starts right before sunset.
This dance is performed every afternoon, and bus loads of tourists gather to see it. I understand why. It's not just the chanting and the dance performance in which a Hindu story of the Ramayana is told in different dance acts, but also the setting. The afternoon turns into evening act by act, and after the sun has set, the performers play with fire, right in the front of you. Truly a performance to remember a lifetime.
