Kertha Gosa is a historical site in Semarapura Town. It is the remains of the home to ancient Bali's royal families and court of justice, the Kertha Gosa Pavilion. The Kertha Gosa Pavilion is famous for its ceilings painted with scenes from the Bhima Swarga story of Bhima saving his family from hell and escorts it to heaven. In other words, the pictures show what kind of cruel actions will not make you popular among gods and help you to get to heaven, and some of them are pretty gruesome, and I don't recommend taking smaller children to see it. There is much more to see though, like the "floating pavilion," the Bale Kembang, which is surrounded by moats. In addition, at the Semarajaya Museum you can learn more in detail about the history of Klungkung King and the royal family. I highly recommend a visit to Kertha Gosa and learning more about Bali's history.
