Where Robin Hood took shelter with his merry men

The Major Oak is a huge oak tree in the heart of Sherwood Forest. According to folklore, this was where Robin Hood and his merry men slept.

The tree got its name from Major Hayman Rooke, a noted antiquarian from the 1700s, he included this tree in his book about the ancient oaks of Sherwood.
