The L.A. Times Bicycle Club in 1894

In this image from 1894 you can see members of the L.A. Times Bicycle Club ride north on Western Avenue toward Hollywood. Back then this was a popular cycling corridor as it connected Los Angeles to the town of Hollywood.

It's amazing to me:
1. How dashing they look.
2. That this is dusty, rural road is Western Avenue!

I can't seem to find much info on the L.A. Times Bicycle Club. If anyone knows anything, please pass it on :)
