In this image from 1894 you can see members of the L.A. Times Bicycle Club ride north on Western Avenue toward Hollywood. Back then this was a popular cycling corridor as it connected Los Angeles to the town of Hollywood.
It's amazing to me: 1. How dashing they look. 2. That this is dusty, rural road is Western Avenue!
I can't seem to find much info on the L.A. Times Bicycle Club. If anyone knows anything, please pass it on :)
