The Revolt of the Winegrower

On June 9, 1907, a demonstration was held here. Some 600,000 protestors showed up to call out the swindlers who were making artificial wine. Their process was much cheaper and involved sugar and chemicals. The demonstrators message was simple: "wine must be a natural product, made by fermenting the juice of fresh grapes." New laws followed suit.
